The first day of autumn has arrived, and Jordan’s temperatures have started to cool with daytime temperatures ranging between 70-77°F, making it the best time to enjoy the kingdom’s natural beauty and spend time outdoors.
Here are some of our favorite fall activities in Jordan.
Stroll through Amman
Jordan’s capital city of Amman is home to the Amman Citadel. This historic site boasts the ancient ruins of the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace, and a Byzantine church. It also features the vibrant neighborhood of Jabal Amman and Rainbow Street, which is filled with trendy cafes, local gift shops, lively markets, and art galleries. The Jordanian initiative Underground Amman offers walking tours around some of Amman’s oldest neighborhoods with a specific focus on the area’s art, graffiti, and culture—one of their most popular tours is the "Downtown Graffiti" tour. Amman is truly a beautiful blend of history and modernity.

Hike in the Ajloun Forest Reserve
Autumn is an ideal time to explore the Ajloun Forest Reserve, a green oasis situated just a short drive from Amman. The reserve offers hiking trails that wind through lush forests and beautiful streams. The cooler temperatures in the fall make for a comfortable outdoor adventure. Jordan also offers unique hiking and biking experiences on a route known as the "Jordan Trail." The Jordan Trail is a long-distance hiking trail covering over 400 miles through 75 villages and towns, spanning the length of the country. The trail also includes Ajloun, which is home to the archaeological site of Tel Mar Elias.

Explore the Ancient City of Jerash
The ancient Greco-Roman city of Jerash is home to incredible ruins and architecture that reveal human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years. Visitors can explore stunning colonnaded streets, temples, theaters, and monuments — all of which are a must-see. Following a walk around Jerash, visitors can have a Jordanian lunch at Dar Ne'meh, a restaurant and initiative that aims to empower Jordanian women by supporting their talents. They can also engage in a cooking class at Beit Khairat Souf, a social enterprise that aims to provide job opportunities to local women.
Canyoneer Through a Jordanian Valley
Jordan is known for its stunning canyons featuring waterfalls, lush greenery, and natural pools. From the mountainous sandstone gorge of Wadi Mujib to the wildlife-filled Wadi Hidan, Jordan has a variety of options for an adventurous outdoor experience during the fall.
Please note that each year, most of the canyons close for the winter season—which usually lasts from November to March— due to the risk of flash floods.

Spend a Day at the Dead Sea
The lowest point on Earth, the Dead Sea, is breathtaking year-round — but the fall weather is just right for visitors to soak in the mineral-rich waters of the sea, enjoy the picturesque sunset views, and breathe in the refreshing air at one of the area's many luxurious 5-star hotels.
