Traveling, unwinding, and enjoying the beauty of the world can be vital to one’s mental health, and in honor of World Mental Health Awareness Month, which is celebrated annually in May, we have rounded up some of Jordan’s top spots for visitors to embrace health and wellness.

Since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has aimed to address the challenges faced by those living with mental health conditions, and encourage society to help break the stigma around mental health to build a more supportive world. This year’s theme is titled "In Every Story, There’s Strength" which "highlights the resilience and diverse experiences that shape mental health journeys within our community."

Whether it's exploring a new country or camping in nature, travel experiences can help positively contribute to one’s overall well-being, and Jordan is filled with spots that offer the ultimate wellness experiences.

Here are some of our favorite Jordanian destinations.

Ma’in Hot Springs

Nestled in a beautiful valley in southern Jordan surrounded by waterfalls, the Ma’in Hot Springs is a prime destination for wellness experiences. Known for its natural hot spring waters, Ma’in offers an array of health benefits, including muscle relaxation, skin rejuvenation, and stress relief. The healing waters of Ma’in are filled with minerals such as sulfur, magnesium, and calcium, making it the ideal spot for both the body and mind.

Wadi Rum

For a fully serene desert experience, Wadi Rum is the perfect place to be. Camping in a tranquil environment under a bright star-lit sky, meditating at sunrise, or participating in a yoga session amidst the giant red-colored mountains is ideal for mental clarity and reflection. The profound silence of the desert—a rare and powerful stillness—allows the mind to quiet down, fostering deep introspection and emotional release. In this naturally meditative setting, sound bathing with gongs or crystal bowls becomes especially potent, with vibrations echoing through the vast open landscape to help restore balance, reduce anxiety, and promote inner peace.

Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is a destination that attracts millions from around the world, and for good reason. Floating effortlessly in its warm, mineral-rich waters with detoxifying mud rubbed on your skin as you read a book is a surreal experience in itself. Follow that with a relaxing massage or a revitalizing wrap at one of the area's world-class hotel spas, and you’ll understand why the Dead Sea is renowned for its therapeutic benefits.

Adding to the wellness appeal is the region’s uniquely high oxygen levels—thanks to its position as the lowest point on Earth—which can enhance breathing, reduce stress, and promote a greater sense of mental clarity and calm.

Aqaba

Jordan’s coastal city of Aqaba situated on the stunning Red Sea offers an array of outdoor wellness experiences that one can enjoy. From aquatic activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the sea to pilates and yoga classes on the beach, the wonderful seaside environment of Aqaba makes it a favorite destination for relaxation.

Dibeen Forest Reserve

Situated in the midst of serene mountain landscapes and endless trees, Dibeen Forest Reserve, located north of Jordan, is a scenic biodiversity spot that allows you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life, embark on a hike in the fresh air, and connect with nature’s beauty. The peaceful woodland setting also offers the perfect environment for grounding—walking barefoot on natural earth, resting under trees, or simply being still in the forest—which has been shown to reduce anxiety, lower cortisol levels, and restore emotional balance.
