Jordan is a must-visit destination year-round; however, cool weather during the fall season coupled with an array of outdoor experiences makes it an ideal time to visit the kingdom.

Here are some of the best places to visit Jordan during autumn.

1. Petra

The ancient stone-carved city of Petra is certainly a must-visit site during a trip to Jordan, and the kingdom’s cooler temperatures during fall make it an ideal time to walk, hike, and trek through Petra’s iconic treasury, monastery, and other rock-cut formations.

2. Wadi Rum

Famous for its red sand dunes, towering mountains, and ancient inscriptions, camping in Wadi Rum under the night’s star-filled sky is a wonderful experience. The fall season offers the apt conditions to enjoy jeep tours and camel rides through the desert.

3. Jerash

Jordan’s ancient city of Jerash is home to incredible Greco-Roman ruins that date back more than 6,500 years. Since the best way to explore the city is by walking, Jordan’s mild temperatures and sunny sky during autumn makes the experience more enjoyable.

4. Dana Biosphere Reserve

The Dana Biosphere Reserve is Jordan’s largest biosphere reserve filled with scenic lush greenery, hiking trails, and landscapes. Autumn is the perfect time to visit the Reserve and enjoy its natural beauty, especially after a few rain showers.

5. Madaba
Jordan’s city of Madaba is known for its historic mosaics and churches, especially the St. George Church that is famous for its beautiful floor mosaic depicting the Holy Land. Fall’s moderate weather makes it a more comfortable time to explore the city’s different sites.

6. Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is the place to unwind during any season, but during the fall months especially it is the perfect place to extend those summer feels, absorb the golden rays, breathe in the oxygen-filled air, and soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea. For many visitors, the Dead Sea is a sanctuary of wellness and relaxation, and what better time to do so before the busy holiday seasons kick off.
