Jordanian Muslims, along with many Muslim citizens across the globe, joyfully welcomed the holy month of Ramadan on Saturday, March 1st.

In Jordan, Ramadan is a month filled with togetherness, family time, and holiness for many Muslims as they attend frequent mosque prayers and share large, delicious meals with loved ones following their daytime fast.

During Ramadan, evenings become especially eventful in Jordan with many people partaking in social activities or events following their evening meals, known as “iftar.”

This year, Amman’s favorite pedestrian-friendly destination, the Boulevard, located in the capital’s downtown neighborhood of Abdali, is hosting a Ramadan experience titled ‘Among the Arches at the Boulevard’ that will run throughout the holy month and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Guests will find the Boulevard decorated with twinkled arches, crescent moons, and Islamic patterns throughout the lively walkway. It will feature shopping spots, various dining options from restaurants and cafes, coffee stations, and a festive atmosphere.

The Boulevard will also launch philanthropic initiatives in partnership with local organizations to support those in need, emphasizing the social solidarity and charitable spirit of the holy month.

“Through these celebrations, we aim not only to spotlight the festive spirit but also to enrich Amman’s cultural and economic vibrancy,” said Amer Ahmad Tarawneh, CEO of the Abdali Group, which manages the destination.

Additionally, hotels and restaurants across Jordan are hosting daily Ramadan-themed dinners. For example, Oak Tree Kitchen, a contemporary Jordanian-Arabic restaurant at the Dead Sea Marriott Resort and Spa is offering an iftar set menu, including delicious beetroot mutabal and fried falafel cone dishes, followed by a tranquil evening outdoors by the sea.

Additionally, Daimeh Eatery, which is home to the renowned Jordan River Design shop, is hosting a specialized iftar menu throughout the month of Ramadan with soups, salads, and appetizers to start followed by main dishes such as stuffed zucchini, grape leaves, and fried eggplant.

Throughout the month, many families also frequently host friends and family members in their homes where they gather over an Iftar meal and spend the rest of the evening playing cards, catching up, and enjoying each other's company.

Queen Rania of Jordan posted a video on her Instagram account of members of the Jordanian royal family gathering together for iftar with the following caption: "There's no greater blessing than being surrounded by family. Ramadan Kareem to you and your loved ones."

Whether it's enjoying a traditional iftar meal at a restaurant or gathering with friends in the evening to play cards at home, the month of Ramadan is a special time of year in Jordan for both Muslims and non-Muslim citizens alike.
