Howdy, fellow travelers! I'm Janine Jervis, your friendly guide to an extraordinary love affair with the jewel of the Middle East—Jordan. Today, I'm not the Communications Director for the Jordan Tourism Board North America; instead, I'm just Janine, a fortunate guest and adopted "citizen" of Jordan for the past 17 years. Join me on a trip down memory lane as I share how this enchanting country and its people captured my heart.

A Humble Beginning: From Intern to Explorer
In October of 2006, fresh out of George Mason University, I stumbled upon an internship opportunity in the tourism industry. Little did I know, this decision would lead me to a life-changing adventure. Fast forward to March 2007, and I found myself on my first press trip to Jordan. A self-absorbed island girl from Jamaica, I was clueless about the Middle East. However, from the moment my Royal Jordanian flight touched down in Amman, I was engulfed in a warmth that would define every visit to this ancient Kingdom.

Hospitality Beyond Imagination
The hospitality I encountered was nothing short of magical. Whether it was the market, my hotel lobby, or passing a nomadic Bedouin family on a trail, every "Welcome to Jordan" was a genuine invitation to share tea or coffee. The warmth of Jordan's people became a constant theme in my countless journeys, creating a home away from home.

Landscapes to Stir the Soul
Jordan's landscapes are a testament to nature's grandeur. Each turn revealed breathtaking vistas with stories from ancient civilizations. Petra's marvels fascinated me, but it was Wadi Rum that stole my heart—a haven of peace and solitude. Confronting my fears, I soared over Wadi Rum in a hot air balloon and rappelled down a waterfall in Wadi Mujib, the lowest nature reserve on Earth, overlooking the mystical Dead Sea.
A Spiritual Awakening
Jordan is not just a physical journey; it's a spiritual one. Raised in Jamaica, a land saturated with churches, I embraced the teachings of all religions. However, Jordan introduced me to the Islamic faith, emphasizing the importance of travel in understanding diverse cultures. Witnessing Muslims and Christians coexisting harmoniously shattered stereotypes, showcasing a unity that mainstream media often overlooks.

Transformative Power of Travel
Jordan transformed my life in ways I can't put a price on. Working in the travel industry broadened my perspective, breaking down barriers and prejudices. Travel, as I discovered, unites rather than divides. What began as a job turned into friendships that feel like family. In Jordan, I found common ground, fostering connections that transcended cultural differences.
Jordan isn't just a destination; it's a love story that continues to unfold with each visit. Join me in embracing the beauty, warmth, and transformative power of this extraordinary land. Ahlan wa Sahlan, welcome to my Jordan! 🇯🇴✨ #LoveJordan #TravelMagic
