A press conference was held at Queen Alia International Airport regarding resuming flight activity which is due to start on Tuesday, September 8.

Countries are classified into three categories which are red, yellow and green - depending on the scale of the COVID-19 outbreak, announced the Minister of Transport, Khaled Saif.

All travellers must undergo a COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to departure and all arrivals in Jordan will be tested at the airport, Saif added.

The countries classified as ‘green countries’ include; Canada, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, Poland, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey and Tunisia.

The countries classified as ‘yellow countries’ include; Algeria, Austria, Germany, Italy, Malta, Netherlands and UAE.

The countries classified as ‘red countries’ include; Bahrain, Belgium, France, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, UK, Ukraine, USA, Egypt, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

People who arrive from countries that are classified as green and their PCR test comes negative, they will not be sent to quarantine.

People who arrive from countries classified as yellow will be sent to institutional-quarantine for a period of seven days and then to home-quarantine for another seven days.

However, people who arrive from countries which are on the red list, will be sent to institutional-quarantine for a period of seven days and then to home-quarantine for another seven days with a tracking bracelet.

Jordan will not receive more than four flights during the first week following the airport reopening, said the head of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Haitham Misto.

A laboratory has been assigned at the Queen Alia Internation Airport to conduct PCR tests on arrivals, said the Director of the Communicable Diseases Directorate at the Ministry of Health, Hadeel Saeh.

After the arrivals leave the plane, they are sent by bus to the emergency area to take the PCR test, and people who show any COVID-19 symptoms will be isolated and tested in separately, Saeh added.

The PCR test at the airport costs JD 40, results take up to three hours and is 70% accurate, she added.
