The journey began in the vibrant capital city of Amman, where viewers delighted in a captivating glimpse of Jordan's cultural wealth and modern allure. Exploring bustling markets, historic landmarks, and experiencing the warm hospitality of the locals, Kidd O'Shea painted a vivid picture of Amman's distinctive charm. Luxurious accommodations, like the Ritz Carlton Amman, added to the city's allure, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
Kidd also made his way to the ancient village of Umm Qais in Jordan’s northern region, which is home to an archeological site of Roman ruins. During his trip, he tried Jordanian food that was cooked by locals and met with Jordanian Muna Haddad who is the founder and managing Director of Baraka Destinations, a consulting firm in Jordan that focuses on sustainable tourism development and helps drive Umm Qais' local economy.
Kidd also visited the famous Beit Sitti, which translates to “my grandmother’s house” in Arabic and met with one of its founders, Maria Haddad. Located in Jordan's capital city of Amman, Beit Sitti offers guests the opportunity to cook an array of Arabic dishes and enjoy the food afterwards. Maria expressed the importance of using earthy spices in Middle Eastern dishes and the diversity of foods that the Arabic cuisine includes.
Kidd’s trip to Petra was Good Morning Washington’s first trip to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. He explored the city’s stone-carved temples and tombs, learned about the city’s extensive history, and met with many of its local people.
During Kidd’s trip to Wadi Rum, he met with a local Bedouin guide and discussed the desert’s historic Bedouin culture, Hollywood movies produced in Wadi Rum, including The Martian and Star Wars, as well as some of the adventures offered in the desert, including hot air ballooning and stargazing.
As the Jordan spotlight came to a close, Kidd took a moment to reflect on the unforgettable journey, concluding with a captivating conversation with our very own Malia Asfour, Director of the Jordan Tourism Board North America. Delving into the allure of her beautiful country, Malia shared compelling reasons why Jordan deserves a spot on every traveler's bucket list.
